Bowalley Free Range is a reputable farm nestled in the scenic Oamaru, Otago region, committed to sustainable and high-quality arable and poultry farming. We are seeking a motivated General Farm Assistant to join our team and contribute to the success of our diverse farming operations.

Position Overview:

As a General Farm Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include daily livestock checks, general maintenance, and the operation of agricultural equipment. Additionally, you will be involved in seasonal arable farm activities such as harvest, sowing, and irrigation. Basic building and engineering knowledge is essential for our ongoing projects. This role offers considerable variability in daily tasks and the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team of staff and the Craig family.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily livestock checks and ensure their well-being.
• Conduct general maintenance tasks on the farm.
• Operate and maintain agricultural equipment.
• Assist with seasonal arable farm activities, including harvest, sowing, and irrigation.
• Utilize basic building and engineering skills for ongoing projects.
• Collaborate with the team to achieve farm goals.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Physically fit and able to work extended hours during peak seasons.
• Minimum full class 1 license required; class 2 license is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa is a prerequisite.
• No contact with household avian species due to biosecurity requirements.

Preferred Skills:

• Basic engineering skills.
• Experience in tractor and truck driving.

Remuneration:

The remuneration for this position will be based on the candidate's experience and will increase as skills and responsibilities grow in the role.

Work Hours:

8:00 am – 4:30 pm, 5 days per week.
