Aquaculture Attendant Opportunity at Petuna Aquaculture in Strahan, Tasmania

Job Description:

Petuna is currently seeking a dedicated Aquaculture Attendant to join our operations team on a full-time or part-time basis. This position is based at our Aquaculture Farm in Strahan, Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute a range of operational duties associated with the daily functioning of the aquaculture farm, including promoting excellent fish health, welfare, and security, and ensuring optimal feeding of fish.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols.
  • Operate ROV and surface net cleaning machinery.
  • Assist in harvesting operations, net construction, and fish health activities.
  • Monitor and control issues related to air and seaborne predators.
  • Follow all farm strategies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ensure correct handling and operation of farm equipment to optimize equipment use and fish security.
  • Maintain accurate records of required information.

Key Requirements:

  • Cert III in Aquaculture or previous experience in finfish farming (or related field) is highly regarded.
  • Forklift license, coxswains, and/or first aid certificate are highly regarded.
  • Physical fitness, capability for labor work, and commitment to working outdoors.
  • Can-do attitude with a focus on completing tasks to a high standard.
  • Current Right to work in Australia.

Roster Pattern:

  • 8 days on shift and 6 full days off per fortnight.
  • Drive-in and drive-out arrangements are suitable.
  • Locals living on the West Coast are encouraged to apply.
