Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as an Avocado & Banana Farm Hand/Supervisor. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the day-to-day operations of our farm, ensuring the successful cultivation and harvesting of avocados and bananas.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and participate in the planting, cultivating, and harvesting of avocado and banana crops.
• Supervise a team of farm hands, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and productive work.
• Monitor and manage irrigation systems to maintain optimal soil moisture levels.
• Implement pest and disease control measures, following organic farming practices.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
• Conduct daily machinery maintenance and pre-start checks.
• Use various farm machinery, including tractors, cherry pickers, front end loaders, trucks, and fork lifts.
• Apply chemicals to crops and pastures in accordance with safety protocols.
• Tidy and maintain the workshop and perform general servicing of farm vehicles and equipment.
• Be available for spraying activities outside ordinary daytime hours, with extra remuneration applied.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in avocado and banana farming.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience on a farm.
• HR license is a must.
• Forklift license required.
• Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery.
• Knowledge of organic farming practices and sustainable agriculture.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including night spraying if necessary.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
