Agri Talent Pty Ltd, in partnership with our esteemed client, a premium oyster farm known for producing New Zealand's finest oysters, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join their team as an Assistant Farm Manager. Situated in the scenic North Island, our client is committed to sustainable farming practices and holds a strong reputation both domestically and internationally.
About the Role:
As the Assistant Farm Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Farm Manager in the day-to-day operations of the oyster farm. This position offers the opportunity for career growth and advancement within the organization, with the potential to step into a management role. The successful candidate will lead a team of 4-6 crew members, ensuring the well-being and growth of oysters using innovative farming techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Farm Manager in planning and executing oyster farming operations.
- Manage and coordinate tasks of a team of 4-6 crew members to ensure productivity.
- Maintain high-quality standards for oyster processing and grading.
- Communicate with the processing facility regarding oyster delivery and requirements.
- Take responsibility for maintaining a clean and organized farm environment.
- Collaborate with the Farm Manager to implement strategies for business growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of three years' experience in the aquaculture industry, ideally in oyster farming.
- Competent Skipper (valid license required) or willingness to train as one.
- Ability to step into the Farm Manager role as required.
- Degree in aquaculture or related fields is beneficial but not essential.
- Planning and coordination of maintenance-related tasks alongside the Farm Manager.
- Passion for sustainable farming and commitment to maintaining environmental standards.
- Full & Clean Driver’s License.
- Ability to work weekends if needed.
