Aquaculture Attendant Opportunity in Abington

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Aquaculture Attendant. As an Aquaculture Attendant, you will play a crucial role in the daily care and maintenance of our ornamental fish species, ensuring their health and well-being. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about aquaculture and ornamental fish to contribute to the growth of our dynamic company.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily care and maintenance of fish, including feeding, monitoring, and observing their health and behavior.
  • Conducting water quality testing.
  • Assisting in the breeding, larval rearing, fry management, and grow-out of multiple fish species.
  • Assisting in the sorting, grading, and packing of fish for sale.
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning tanks, filters, and equipment.
  • Operating and maintaining aquaculture farm equipment, such as filtration systems, aeration systems, and lighting.
  • Collaborating with other team members and assisting in various tasks as needed to ensure smooth farm operations.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with ornamental fish species and/or aquatic plants.
  • Basic knowledge of fish biology, behavior, and husbandry practices.
  • Familiarity with water quality parameters and management.
  • Ability to work in outdoor and indoor environments and perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, carrying, and bending.
  • Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to follow Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safety Guidelines.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on weekends, holidays, and be on-call as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
