As we grow, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Livestock Farm Manager to join our dynamic team on a fixed-term basis.
Position Overview:
As a Livestock Farm Manager, you will play a crucial role in our mission, ensuring meticulous management of feed production and adhering to diet formulations for optimal livestock nourishment. This hands-on role requires collaboration with a highly engaged team of owner operators. Key responsibilities include:
- Diligently follow specific feed recipes and accurately weigh ingredients.
- Multitask effectively, recognizing the critical timing at various stages of the operation.
- Competently operate various farming machinery and equipment.
- Exhibit flexibility to respond to dynamic production requirements.
- Demonstrate physical stamina and strength for a role that entails physicality.
- Drive tractor, manual ute, and other vehicles (forklift license advantageous, training provided).
- Cleaning and sanitizing of pens and facilities.
- Adhere to biosecurity rules and policies.
- Health and safety compliance.
- Effluent management.
- Feeding, drenching, vaccinating, medicating as per operational needs.
- Record keeping and communication with owners.
- Handling livestock; shifting, mating, or AI.
- Repair and maintenance; identifying, reporting, and solving problems.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Comfortable with technology.
- Valid New Zealand driver's license (essential).
- Ability to work six days a week, approximately 45-50 hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Flexibility for occasional overtime to meet operational demand.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical check and drug/alcohol testing.
- Comfortable with the strong smell of pig manure.
