Job Description:

Snowy Hydro, a leading integrated energy business, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Plant Engineer to join our team in the Lower Tumut Region. As a Mechanical Plant Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our regional assets, including turbines, mechanical transmission systems, and auxiliaries. This position involves investigating, fault finding, implementing technical solutions, and leading commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify, develop, and implement technical solutions and plant changes, coordinating tests and evaluations of plant condition.
• Analyze reliability data, identify trends, update priorities, and improve root cause analyses.
• Lead project and modernization work from design stage to implementation and standardization.
• Conduct engineering level plant condition assessments, develop condition monitoring activities, and lead diagnostic activities.
• Initiate, improve, and coordinate changes to plant strategies, maintenance plans, project programs, and budgets.
• Review and assess routine maintenance work, recommend process improvements, and ensure compliance with OH&S, EEO, and Environmental Policies.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar specialization.
• Demonstrated experience in plant reliability in heavy industry.
• Knowledge of hydro generating plant and control systems, maintenance program requirements, analysis techniques, and maintenance management practices.
• Proficient in fault-finding, plant diagnostics, and statistical analysis.
• Strong communication skills to provide a high level of service to various stakeholders.
• Availability for short notice (1-hour) recall to duty and willingness to carry out duties throughout the region and other areas of the scheme as required.
