Job Description:

As a full-time Apiarist/Beekeeper at New Zealand Beehive Limited, you will play a crucial role in the management and care of our beehives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Hive inspection and maintenance.
  • Hive splitting and queen rearing.
  • Disease and pest management.
  • Harvesting and extraction of honey.
  • Assisting in the production of bee-related products.
  • Record-keeping and data analysis related to hive health and productivity.
  • Working collaboratively within a team to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Being available for night shifts and weekends as needed.
  • Flexibility to work more than 30 hours per week as required.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of commercial beekeeping experience.
  • A passion for bees and a deep understanding of hive manipulation and hive management.
  • Physical fitness for handling the demands of the job, including heavy lifting.
  • A commitment to safety in day-to-day operations.
  • A valid full clean car license, with the potential for HT training if required.
  • Reliability, a strong work ethic, a "can-do" attitude, and a willingness to work hard.
  • A positive attitude and a great sense of humor.
