Job Description:

Are you passionate about animal care? Seaboard Foods is seeking Animal Caretakers to join our team in Holyoke, CO. This role involves tending to and nurturing pigs in our swine production facilities. No prior experience is necessary as on-the-job training will be provided. If you have a strong desire to work with animals and ensure their well-being, this is an excellent opportunity to start your career in animal care.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Animal Caretaker, your daily tasks will include:

• Monitoring feed quality and water supply
• Overseeing barn environment and ventilation systems
• Administering treatment and vaccinations to sick animals when required
• Assisting with breeding sows (if placed on a sow farm)
• Participating in the processing of piglets (if placed on a sow farm)
• Loading and unloading pigs as scheduled
• Maintaining farm cleanliness

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, candidates must:

• Have basic math skills
• Be flexible and able to work on assigned weekends (Saturday/Sunday)
• Be bilingual in English and Spanish (helpful, but not required)
• Be able to work in a farm environment
• Be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push/move up to 300 pounds
• Have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

What We Offer:

• Vacation: 3 days (DOH to 1 year), 7 days (1+ year of service), 10 days (10+ years of service)
• Sick Leave: 48 hours per calendar year
• Holidays: 6 paid holidays and 2 Floating Holidays after 90 days of employment

Pay Rate

We offer a competitive pay rate of $16/hour based on your skills and experience related to this position.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, gases at low concentrations, waste material, feed, and hog dust.
