Job Summary:

Trilect Solar is actively seeking a capable Junior Solar Project Engineer to join its Auckland team. In this pivotal role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth execution of solar farm and rooftop projects across the nation. As the 'Junior Project Engineer – Solar,' your responsibilities will span project planning, coordination, subcontractor management, design support, procurement, and involvement in technical and commercial aspects of the projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate rooftops for solar feasibility, considering shading, orientation, and structure.
  • Prepare bill of materials, costings, procurement, and logistics.
  • Plan optimal sizing, considering energy needs and available space.
  • Obtain necessary approvals and ensure compliance.
  • Select suitable equipment like panels, inverters, and mounting systems.
  • Create schedules, coordinate tasks, and manage resources.
  • Assist with Testing and Commissioning.
  • Maintain accurate records, provide manuals, and warranties.
  • Assist in formulating scopes of work, project timelines, and budgets for solar projects.
  • Contribute to ensuring that solar designs and installations align with contract specifications, budgetary constraints, and anticipated timelines.
  • Onsite quality control and collaboration with the team to ensure projects are built to specifications, on time, and under budget.
  • Facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers.

Requirements:

  • Previous exposure to project management functions, ideally within the solar utility or commercial sector.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks while considering crucial legal, technical, and commercial aspects.
  • Familiarity with tools like PVSyst and Autocad is preferred but not essential.
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Basic understanding of power systems, solar PV, and construction principles.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, while advantageous, is not mandatory.
