About Your Employer:

Our client is a long-standing, family-owned mixed farming operation nestled in the heart of Ross, Tasmania. With a rich history spanning over two centuries, they have established themselves as pioneers in agricultural excellence. Their diverse property encompasses a 60ha Cherry Orchard and a sprawling 1000ha pasture, home to a thriving 5000-head flock of Merino sheep. This fully integrated farm prides itself on picking, packing, and exporting its high-quality cherries to domestic and international markets. Leveraging the unique conditions of the Tasmanian midlands, they have been producing premium cherries for generations.

To support their ongoing growth and development, our client is seeking a skilled Farm Hand to join their well-established team, contributing to multiple facets of their operations.

About the Role:

As a Farm Hand, you will have the opportunity to expand your skill set across Farming, Orchard, and Livestock operations. Comprehensive training will be provided in each area, complemented by continuous career development and upskilling prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operating orchard/farming machinery, including tractors and sprayers.
  • Undertaking planting, cultivation, and harvesting tasks.
  • Assisting with irrigation installation and maintenance.
  • Performing basic machinery maintenance and pre-start checks.
  • Complying with workplace health and safety policies.
  • Providing support across other operational areas as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • An open driver's license.
  • A Chemical Handling Certificate or the willingness to acquire one.
  • Previous experience operating tractors and other farming implements.
  • Horticulture experience (desirable).
  • The ability to handle seasonal pressures during the harvest period (December to February).
