Job Description:
As a technician at Walkaway Wind Farm, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our wind turbines in accordance with our service agreements. You will receive support from our dedicated team, reporting directly to the site supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity for career growth, with possibilities both nationally and globally. Our service technician positions are predominantly permanent, full-time contracts, offering long-term stability.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively and reactively maintain wind farm equipment to ensure smooth operation.
- Safely operate and maintain wind farm equipment, including high voltage and low voltage systems.
- Prioritize safety and environmental protection by following strict work methods and procedures.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe workplace, participating in safety and toolbox meetings as required.
- Keep company vehicles clean and well-maintained.
- Comply with OH&S legislation, demonstrating a strong commitment to accident prevention.
- Undertake a comprehensive site induction to familiarize yourself with the site and its operations.
- Ensure all Service Maintenance Agreement requirements are met for optimal wind farm operation.
- Continuously learn and develop new skills to adapt to changing working conditions.
- Be willing to perform other duties within your competence and experience to support wind farm operation.
Qualifications:
- A-Grade Electrical license or Cert III Mechanical trade (applicants currently having their overseas trade qualification recognized in Australia may be considered).
- Full clean driving license.
- Additional qualifications such as GWO training, working at heights, safety, manual handling, HV/LV rescue, fire awareness, and first aid are advantageous.
Competencies:
- Proficiency in PC and modern technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings for fault-finding and maintenance.
- Knowledge of PLC and/or SCADA systems is a plus.
- Motivation to learn new skills in a growing industry.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
- Experience with HV/LV, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in using various hand tools.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a small team.
- Willingness to work at heights in confined environments.
