Job Description:
We are currently seeking an Apiary Worker to join our team. As an Apiary Worker at Authenac Farms, you will have the unique opportunity to work in both crop harvesting and apiary management. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about agriculture, beekeeping, and enjoy working in a dynamic farm environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apiary Work: Undertake tasks related to honeybee colony management, including hive inspections, honey harvesting, and bee health monitoring.
- Crop Harvesting: Participate in crop harvesting activities, including monitoring inventory, operating farm machinery, and ensuring crop quality.
- Farm Maintenance: Assist with general farm maintenance, machinery upkeep, and cleaning of stables, barns, and pens.
- Disease Detection: Detect and address disease and health problems in crops, livestock, and poultry.
- Produce Handling: Examine and prepare produce for market, ensuring quality standards are met.
Experience and Specialization:
Apiary and Honey Harvesting: Prior experience in apiary work and honey harvesting is required.
Beekeeping Knowledge: A solid understanding of bee biology and honey farm operations is essential.
Additional Information:
- Transportation/Travel: A vehicle is supplied by the employer. A valid driver's license is required.
- Work Conditions: This role involves repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, and is physically demanding. Attention to detail and hand-eye coordination are crucial.
- Physical Requirements: The job involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling. Standing for extended periods may be required. Overtime may be necessary.
- Personal Suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, and organization are highly valued qualities. Being a team player is essential.
