Our client, a renowned producer of top-quality chicks and hatching eggs in New Zealand and the Pacific, is seeking a skilled Livestock Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to oversee the day-to-day operations of their Layer Breeder Farms in Ohoka and East Eyreton. The successful candidate will have proven livestock management experience and a passion for ensuring optimal farm productivity and animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the Layer Breeder Farms to ensure smooth operation and high productivity.
  • Implement and maintain company standards for livestock management, focusing on welfare, biosecurity, and bird health.
  • Supervise the farm properties, including buildings, vehicles, machinery, and land care.
  • Plan and organize farm operations to meet placement schedules.
  • Oversee flock management, including cleanouts, set-ups, egg cool room, and feed stocks.
  • Foster a collaborative culture among farm employees and provide effective leadership to achieve productivity, quality, and goal expectations.
  • Manage staffing levels, conduct annual reviews, and focus on employee engagement and retention.
  • Ensure compliance with biosecurity protocols, quality standards, standard operating procedures, and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Drive performance, quality, animal welfare, and cost objectives.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in livestock management.
  • Previous leadership experience with a proven ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Excellent knowledge and commitment to Animal Welfare Codes.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Highly motivated with a personal drive for success.
  • Exceptional administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Entitled to work in New Zealand.
  • Availability for after-hours calls as required (24/7 operation).
