As we expand to a second site, we are seeking a skilled Horticultural Grower to join our dynamic and supportive team.

Job Summary:

As the Horticultural Grower at Burlington Berries, you will play a key role in managing our 68-ha protected cropping farm. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects, including creating a strong and sustainable team to cover all operational areas, developing a strategic plan and budget, and driving productivity and cost efficiencies. From overseeing crop production to managing compliance with food safety protocols, you will be an integral part of our growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a 5-year production plan to optimize market opportunities
• Manage day-to-day farm operations and cultivate a capable team
• Implement the soft fruit plan in line with the board's guidelines
• Supervise crop production, including fertigation, pest management, and plant husbandry
• Ensure compliance with food safety and quality assurance programs
• Foster effective communication with stakeholders, suppliers, and customers
• Address environmental, social, and corporate governance risks related to climate change
• Prioritize safety and equal opportunities within the working environment
• Identify business risks and implement suitable strategies
• Oversee financial reporting and work within budget constraints
• Utilize expertise in intensive horticulture and soft fruit production

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in business management, intensive horticulture, and soft fruit production
• Familiarity with WH&S regulations and financial reporting
• Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
• Knowledge of agronomy, fertigation, harvesting, and non-harvest operations
• Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability
